Counsellor
by
Sue Challand
She
listens patiently
while I,
unfold my heart.
Painful
memories, stones in my throat
She
chisels them down
to powder – ‘they dissolve in my mouth
She
doesn’t judge
my foolish mistakes,
offers balm to alleviate the
nagging guilt, uncertainty.
She’s
wise, my counsellor,
leads me to a better place.
